Personality/Gimmick

Daniels is one of the most tenured wrestlers in the world and thus demands respect from everyone on the ROH roster. He believes deeply in the ideals the company was founded on, having competed in the very first ROH main event. He is known for his Fallen Angel moniker, in the past acting as a prophet.

Style

Daniels is known for both style and substance, capable of fancy moves and high flying, but grounded with incredibly solid fundamentals. Every move he hits is textbook, and he takes advantage of his superior experience to outsmart his opponents.

Career Summary

– Competing in the main event of the first ever ROH event, Daniels is considered a founding father of the company. He was also the company’s first villain, repeatedly refusing to follow the Code of Honor, and formed a group called the Prophecy. At one point the group held all the belts in the company after Daniels and Donovan Morgan became the first ever ROH Tag Team Champions and Xavier won the World Title. Daniels was also the man to bring Samoa Joe into ROH to take out Low Ki, but Joe soon turned on the Prophecy, who lost both of their titles around this time. Daniels was taken out of ROH by CM Punk as part of a war between The Prophecy and the Second City Saints and would not be seen again for nearly a year and a half.

– Daniels would return to challenge new champion CM Punk after he had threatened to take the world title to the WWE with him when he left. Daniels could not allow this as the belt represented the company he had helped start. He failed to win the belt however when the pair went to a one-hour time limit draw. Daniels would take on all comers and continue to try and win the title but could never quite manage it. He formed a short-lived team with Matt Sydal in late 2005 and the pair won the ROH World Tag Team Championships, holding them for three months. Not longer after this Daniels decided to quit the company.

– Daniels shocked the world by returning at the Big Bang in 2010, taking umbrage with Davey Richards’ claims to be the best wrestler in the world. Seeking to prove this title in fact belonged to him, Daniels tore through the ROH roster, defeating the likes of Kenny Omega, Kevin Steen, Eddie Edwards, Austin Aries and even current ROH world champion Roderick Strong. He would come up short against Davey Richards when the two finally met one on one however.

Current Storylines

Despite his loss to Richards, Daniels still believes he is one of, if not the best wrestler in the world and wants nothing more than to capture the belt that has eluded him for his entire career, the ROH World Title, feeling this would prove his claim.
